MORPHOSIS
DUO

Morphosis Duo, Joan Martí-Frasquier on baritone saxophone and Joan Bagés i Rubí (electronic music and visuals). After their debut in Barcelona, at a concert for the Actual Catalan Composers Association, they presented this project at NYCEMF 2017 (New York, USA).

This group represents the most basic version of Morphosis Ensemble, a variable group dedicated to the diffusion of electroacoustic music (traditional instruments and electronics), a genre that signifies a step forward in the (r)evolution of 21st-century music. Their goals are to showcase this repertoire and promote composers, sound artists, and performers involved in the exploration of new languages and sonorities.

The MORPHOSIS concert programs are open and include both text-based and free-improvisation musical works, resulting in an innovative musical performance.

THIS IS NOT A FAD!

THIS IS NOT A FAD! is the newest project by Morphosis Duo. The program is open and entirely consists of original works by female composers.
While we cannot change a past in which the role of women in music (especially in the field of composition) has been so marginal, we have a responsibility to eradicate all forms of discrimination (including gender) and lay the foundations for new generations of artists.

SCRATCH!

Scratch (since 2016) aims to promote the works of composers and sound artists involved in the exploration of new languages and sonorities.

SPIDER

SPIDER és una obra/instal·lació que explora l’espai com a contenidor de relacions sonores i gestuals interdependents. Els músics i el públic recorren l’espai físic i sonor alhora que són convidats, a través d’una partitura espectromorfològica, textos llibertaris i recorreguts gestuals, a teixir una gran teranyina:
una teranyina sonora, de llums i d’interaccions entre els tres músics, la música electrònica i el públic.

L’obra final es construeix des d’aquesta fragilitat del moment, on la tensió psicològica es fa tangible a causa de la interdependència dels elements participants.
Joan Bagés ha abordat temes psicològics en diverses de les seves obres. Disfuncions mentals, trastorns psicològics i inadaptacions comunicatives han esdevingut matèria creativa per a ell.
En aquesta obra, Bagés explora un món actual excessivament interdependent que, en contra del que podria semblar, redueix la llibertat individual i col·lectiva. La pèrdua de control i la impossibilitat de prendre decisions lliurement generen violència, angoixa, depressió i manca d’esperança.
