IB: LE CORNU
ANCESTRALE
IB: Le cornu ancestrale is an electroacoustic opera in which the immersive experience leads the audience to submerge themselves in water as a metaphor for human existence.
Opera in its original etymological sense, «musical work.» A work that utilizes a multiplicity of expressive means, but does not employ one of the key elements of this genre: theatrical representation. Instead, it is the sound and visual action that occupies the space. The voice and poetic texts are the vector that articulates the entire musical and sonic discourse, both formally and conceptually. Electronics, a virtual choir, two singers on stage, visuals, and live musicians create an experience where water and the Ebro River serve as metaphors for life and death.
